Disable Windows Geniune Notification

Usually when your PC Automatic update is turned on, a certain update, known as Windows Genuine Notification is installed on to the system. If your Windows XP is not a Genuine/Legal one then you will start to get annoying messages and pop-ups asking to buy a legal copy of Windows XP.

This tutorial will help you get rid of this Notification, in case you have it in your system. Follow the simple steps below and you will be saved from the disturbing notifications.
  • Re-boot the Windows to Safe Mode. If you don't know how to do this, press the F8 key when the system is being rebooted. A list of options for booting will appear. Select Safe Mode.
  • Once Windows is loaded in Safe Mode, click Start Menu, and then click Run.
  • In Run type, regedit.exe
  • Search for WGAlogon folder within the registry and delete it. (If you are new in editing registry, please remember to back-up your registry)
  • Go to "C:\Windows\" folder and find and locate and file or folder with WGA in it. Delete these files or folders.
  • Reboot back to Normal Windows, your done!
How you can avoid the Windows Genuine Notification in the future
  • Download the following registry key: Windows_Genuine_Validation.zip
  • Install the key by opening it and pressing YES.
  • Go to Control Panel, open Automatic Updates and select "Download updates for me, but let me choose when to install them" and then press Apply.
  • Once the updates needed for your system has been downloaded, a notification will ask permission for the installation of those updates. You will get both Express and Custom mode of installation.

  • Select the Custom mode and check if the update related to the Windows Genuine Notification tool is there. Uncheck it and continue with the installation.
